Today is the last day of school for all the kids around here. I remember so well the feeling I had leaving school on the last day of Fifth Grade. It looked just like any other end-of-school day--kids running out the door, scanning the drive in front of the school for their parents' car. Shouldn't it be different, I thought? It seemed like such a momentous thing. The last day of school, the first day of freedom, and goodbye to everyone until September. I stopped in the doorway and looked up at the sun and the white fluffy clouds and wished I could somehow capture the moment and hold on to it forever.
Everyone else just pushed by me and hurried on their way. Years later I would take up photography as a hobby, still trying to caputure the perfect moment.
